April 4 Mariobros title

Nintendo released Mario Bros. exclusively to arcades, during the second generation of video gaming.

April 18 1983 Disney Channel Logo

The Disney Channel launched on cable television as a premium network.

April 25–29 Five more new episodes of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, titled "Mister Rogers Talks About Day Care & Night Care", premiered on PBS. These were episodes #1516–1520.
May 25 Microsoft released DOS 1.25, the last version of DOS 1.x.
July 5 Thecatinthehat title

The Cat in the Hat premiered on HBO, a premium television network like The Disney Channel.

July 15 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs 1983 Poster

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was re-released in theaters. It grossed about $30.1 million during its run.

Wheel of Fortune premiered on local primetime syndication.

Donkey Kong 3 was released to arcades.

October 11 Hooberbloob title

The Hoober-Bloob Highway premiered on HBO.

November 7–11 "Mister Rogers Talks About Conflict" (episodes #1521–1525) premiered on PBS. After this, reruns of the old series continued.
December 5–30 Episodes #1001–1020 of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood aired for the last time on PBS.
December 16 The Rescuers 1983 Poster

The Rescuers was re-released in theaters.

By the end of this year, a total of at least 185 out of 420 remaining episodes of the old series of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood reran on PBS, having previously aired from November 10, 1980 to October 16, 1981, while those that previously aired in 1982 did not air again until February 1984 at the earliest.
