Originally scheduled for this month were Pete's Dragon, The Sword in the Stone, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, and Oliver & Company; however, they were all delayed to 2001, or in the case of Oliver & Company, 2002. The Hunchback of Notre Dame was also scheduled for release in late 2000, but like Oliver & Company, was delayed to 2002.

Dumbo also didn't get a DVD release this year, presumably because Disney wanted to release it for its 60th anniversary in 2001. The following animated features previously released by Walt Disney Home Video were not listed in the Gold Collection lineup:

  • Beauty and the Beast
  • Aladdin
  • Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
  • The Lion King
  • Cinderella
  • The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
  • Bambi
  • Sleeping Beauty

Most of these films were instead transferred to the Platinum Edition series in 2001.
