Baby Cakes is the 12th Season 2 episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. It was actually the 13th to premiere on the Hub Network, as Hearth's Warming Eve premiered ahead of schedule, but as of later in 2012, Baby Cakes is once again episode 12 of Season 2.
Synopsis
Pinkie Pie takes on the task of babysitting the Cakes' twin toddlers but is woefully unprepared for the challenge.
Production
On October 1, 2010, Lauren Faust wrote premises for this episode, Family Appreciation Day and The Last Roundup.
Charlotte Fullerton wrote the full outline from October 5 through November 10, 2010, Pound Cake still had his official name back then, but Pumpkin Cake was originally named Paddy Cake.
The first full script was written from November 15, 2010 through January 20, 2011, and revisions were made to the script from January 24–27 and again on February 15, 2011. When the script was finalized, Paddy Cake's name changed to "Pumpkin Cake". Voice recording of the episode began on February 17. A previously unused song titled "Piggy Dance", intended to appear on The Best Night Ever, was moved to this episode.
The completed animatic for this episode was submitted for review on May 18, 2011.
A rough cut of the animated episode was submitted for review on September 19, 2011.
Production was officially complete on November 15, 2011.
