On September 18, 2006, the WB Network and UPN were replaced by the CW Network, after the time when ViacomCBS and Warner Bros. Entertainment joined forces.

Children's programming[]

On May 24, 2008, following the WB Network's dissolution, Kids' WB was discontinued, and in its place was a new block called The CW4Kids. After the Fox Network's 4Kids TV block ended on December 27, 2008, few of its programs (Sonic X was one of them) moved to The CW4Kids the following week, on January 3, 2009. Kirby: Right Back at Ya! also aired on this block six times from June 6 to July 11.

Saban Capital Group joined ventures with The CW4Kids in 2010, and the block was renamed Toonzai on August 14 of that year. Another two years later, in 2012, 4Kids Entertainment sold all of its properties to Saban Brands after it (4Kids Entertainment) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and the new programming block, Vortexx, premiered on August 25, 2012. Unfortunately, because children were already addicted to cable television more than Saturday morning cartoons on over-the-air networks, Vortexx was discontinued after September 27, 2014.

Today, the CW Network still continues to broadcast programs distributed by Nexstar Media Group, which has done so ever since the network's affiliates were just independent TV stations.
