Most programs that previously aired on the Hub Network moved here, including My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Thus, newer episodes of that show, starting with Season 5 (the first season of a new era), premiered on Discovery Family, on April 4, 2015. The first half of this season premiered through July 11.
A third Equestria Girls movie, Friendship Games, broadcasted on September 26, about a month after four of its own animated shorts and the first 10 minutes of the film aired on August 29, two weeks before the premiere of the second half of Season 5 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, from September 12 through November 28.
The sixth season of the TV series premiered on March 26, 2016, with more new episodes through October 22, followed by a fourth Equestria Girls film, Legend of Everfree, on November 5. A marathon of the last 13 episodes of Season 6 and all four Equestria Girls movies aired on December 31, 2016.
The final season of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic premiered from April 6 to October 12, 2019, and the last Equestria Girls special, Holidays Unwrapped, first aired on November 2, 2019.
In January 2020, Discovery Family phased out reruns of Seasons 6 and 7 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, followed by Season 1 in February. Season 5 was also temporarily removed during the second half of 2020. As of April 16, 2021, Season 1 has returned to Discovery Family's broadcast schedule.
