This VHS tape remains in stock until early 1999, shortly after Warner Bros. re-released the film in theaters while now holding the rights to The Wizard of Oz. After that, Warner Home Video becomes the permanent distributor for The Wizard of Oz in home media, and its first ever DVD release would be from that company. Printed May 1, 1998 through October 31, 1998.

Walt Disney: 1st Generation Movies

The Black Cauldron (October 14, 1986)

If The Black Cauldron (stock number ranging from #460 to #471) had been released on VHS on time, it would have comprised of the following:

Video Release date
1 Maroon red warning screens October 14, 1986
2 Video dealer announcement October 14, 1986
3 Lady and the Tramp re-issue trailer Q4 1986
4 Walt Disney Classics logo December 6, 1984
5 The Black Cauldron July 24, 1985

The Aristocats (February 5, 1988)

Because the film was last released in theaters on April 10, 1987, The Aristocats could have gotten its first VHS release in early 1988, with its stock number ranging from #663 to #696. The tape would only have the 1984 Walt Disney Classics logo after the warning screens. The original Buena Vista logo does not appear at the start of the film.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (October 4, 1988)

Its stock number also ranging from #663 to #696, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs could have been released on VHS in 1988, except this time with the new 1988 Walt Disney Classics logo in place of the old 1984 logo. The film starts off with the screen saying "A Walt Disney Feature Production".

The Fox and the Hound (Q1 1989)

Its stock number somewhere within the 700s, The Fox and the Hound could have been released on VHS in early 1989, again with the 1988 Walt Disney Classics logo.

Oliver & Company (October 12, 1989)

Oliver & Company could had been released on VHS in late 1989, with its stock number somewhere within the 800s. Before the film would be the 1989 Walt Disney Classics logo, and at the start of the film is the original 1985 Walt Disney Pictures logo.

The Rescuers (September 21, 1990)

If The Rescuers had been released on VHS in 1990 instead of 1992, it would have contained trailers for The Little Mermaid and Peter Pan on VHS, as well as the 1989 Walt Disney Classics logo.

The Great Mouse Detective (July 17, 1992)

If the above had truly happened, the trailer for Beauty and the Beast would have moved to the opening of this VHS (playing after the behind-the-scenes look at Aladdin), and there would have been nothing after the film.

My Little Pony: The Movie (1986)

Closed captions from Vestron Video's original 1986 print is seen on all releases.
