As announced in early 2000, Mary Poppins was re-released on DVD as part of the Gold Collection on July 4, 2000. At that time, the film had a remaining copyright term of 59 years, the same term it had when it was re-released in theaters in 1980.

The film itself remained the same from its 1997-1999 VHS and DVD.

Synopsis

When Walt Disney first presented "Mary Poppins" to spellbound audiences, it represented both a crowning personal achievement and a standard-setting cinematic breakthrough. Winner of five Academy Awards®, including Best Actress (Julie Andrews), Best Song ("Chim Chim Cher-ee"), and Best Visual Effects*, "Mary Poppins" is one of the greatest films ever made!

High above the dawn clouds over London, "practically perfect" Mary Poppins floats out of the sky and into the lives of two playfully mischievous children. With the help of a carefree chimney sweep named Bert (Dick Van Dyke), the spirited nanny makes every chore a game and every day a "Jolly Holiday." But, after they leap into the imaginative world of a sidewalk chalk drawing, visit a hilarious floating tea party, and join a rooftop song and dance, it may take more than "A Spoonful of Sugar" to cheer up the children’s precise and disapproving father!
