My Little Pony: Equestria Girls: Movie Magic (production number "902-104F") is the second of three episode-length specials. It first aired on Discovery Family on July 1, 2017 and last aired on May 14, 2022 at 1:30 p.m.

Synopsis[]

The Equestria Girls have been specially invited by A.K. Yearling to go on the set of the upcoming Daring Do movie and they are overjoyed. For super-fan Rainbow Dash, watching behind the scenes as her favorite heroine comes to life is a dream come true. However, when a rare and important prop from the set goes missing, putting the movie on hold, Rainbow Dash's dream becomes a nightmare. The Equestria Girls take it upon themselves to track down the missing prop and end up trotting into a real-life Daring Do adventure!

Production timeline[]

December 16, 2014: The premise for a Daring Do special (Movie Magic) was written.
January 5, 2015: The full outline for "Daring Do" was written.
February 4, 2015: The first full script for Daring Do was written.
March 2–April 7, 2015: Noelle Benvenuti revised the script for Daring Do.
May 27, 2015: The final script for Daring Do was done.
June 1, 2015: Sci-Twi (Twilight Sparkle from the world of the Equestria Girls)'s normal design was finalized.
June 5, 2015: Voice recording was in session.
October 9, 2015: The animatic was submitted for review. At some point, further production for this special went on hiatus.
May 18, 2016: Sci-Twi's normal design was revealed to the public.
August 3, 2016: The first post-revisions to the animation were requested.
August 19, 2016: The client cut of the animated special was submitted for review.
September 22, 2016: The musical score was added.
February 15, 2017: Production for all three specials was completed.
