Sonic Rainboom is the 16th episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. It premiered on the Hub Network on February 18, 2011, and was also available for streaming at HubWorld.com in February and March 2011.[1]
Synopsis[]
When Twilight uses her magic to give Rarity wings so that she can watch Rainbow Dash compete in a race, Rarity is so taken with her new ability that she disrupts the competition.
Production[]
On November 16, 2009, a "Cloudsdale Episode" was planned, originally as episode #15. When the premise was written on December 11, 2009, the episode had a working title of "Up, Up and Dismay". It was pushed back to #16 on the writing schedule on December 17.
A brand-new premise of Up, Up and Dismay was written on January 11, 2010, followed by a full outline from January 14–29, then the first full script from February 3–25. Revisions were made to the script from March 2–4. Up, Up and Dismay was re-titled "Sonic Rainboom" on March 18, 2010, before the voice recording session on April 12.
Storyboarding began on April 25, 2010, and the completed animatic was submitted for review on July 15, 2010.
The client cut was submitted for review on October 27, 2010.
The musical score was added to the episode on November 17, 2010.
Production was officially complete on January 10, 2011.
