The Big Mac Question is the 23rd Season 9 episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. This episode marks the Cutie Mark Crusaders' last speaking appearance on the show.

Synopsis

When Big Mac and Sugar Belle decide to propose to each other, everything their friends do to help ends up making a mess of the whole thing!

Production timeline

September 5, 2017	Began development on this date. Listed as #913. Originally, the Mane Six was to help Big Mac in an extravagant proposal scheme.
November 17, 2017	Episode pushed back to #923.
March 28, 2018	Premise written by Ed Valentine. The storyline had completely changed. Every single member of the Mane Six was written out, with Discord, Spike, the Cutie Mark Crusaders, and Mrs. Cake all taking their place.
April 10, 2018	Outline written.
May 7, 2018	First draft of the script written. Fluttershy and Applejack were each written back in one scene of the episode, with Fluttershy now having a speaking line.
May 14, 2018	Second draft of the script written. Fluttershy's line was cut from this draft, resulting in The Big Mac Question being the only episode where at least some of the Mane Six appears, but none of them have any speaking lines.
May 17, 2018	Final draft written.
May 31, 2018	Script locked polish.
June 6–July 18, 2018	Voice recording in session. Discord's lines were recorded first, on June 6. Scootaloo came next, on June 25. The rest of the cast in this episode had their lines recorded from July 4–18.
October 25, 2018	Animatic submitted for review.
March 16, 2019	Client cut submitted for review.
April 25, 2019	Musical score added.
May 13, 2019	Final revisions made for the episode.
