On June 13, 1985, an English-language adaptation of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind was released in theaters in North America under the title "Warriors of the Wind" by New World Pictures. This version of the film was later released on VHS in December 1985.
Basically, Warriors of the Wind was turned into a Western-animated film, thus obscuring it from its actual country of origin.
In this English-language version, several scenes were cut, reducing the film's running time to 95 minutes. The film's original director, Hayao Miyazaki, was dissatisfied with the edits made to the film that he adopted a strict "no-edits" clause for further foreign releases of Studio Ghibli films.
A trailer for My Little Pony can be seen on the Australian VHS of Warriors of the Wind.
The video was re-released by StarMaker Entertainment (later known as Anchor Bay Entertainment) in 1990.
Synopsis[]
